April 2024 summary

Here's what happened in April!

The pig farrier equipment we ordered arrived and it was a real team effort to put them to use! We were able to trim Barbie Q’s most overgrown hooves so she can walk (and even run!) without pain. We also cut down Hammibal Lector’s overgrown tusk. The blue line shows how much of that tusk had grown into his face. The wound is healing nicely, and now that he is not in pain he is less aggressive and ready to eat well and put on some weight!

Someone contacted Mina about a cat that had been living in an empty house, being cared for by neighbors. Scarlett wasn’t a good fit for AnimO, but Mina worked with the volunteer that maintains the website to create a new Adoption List page to connect animals that need to be rehomed with people who want to adopt. (Check that out here.) Within just a few days, Scarlett was placed in a foster home. She’s very friendly and loving with humans but doesn’t like being with other cats, so she would be best as an only pet. If you are interested, please contact Mina or send a message through the contact form to get in touch with the right people.

Also in adoption news, Bobby was adopted and Daddy was moved to a dog rescue to be placed in a home. The Shibas Goma and Anko were reserved by adoptive families before they were removed from their original location, so they only made a brief stop at AnimO before being picked up by their new families. More Shibas and large breed dogs (still in their original locations) are also in need of forever homes. Please contact Mina for information about fostering or adopting.

Thank you to everyone on the Patreon, as well as everyone else that sent or brought packages of supplies. Every single donation is appreciated!

If you know someone who wants to support AnimO, or if you want to help more, there are lots of ways!
